Long Beach, CA (June 28, 2023) — In a tragic incident on Monday morning, a crash on the 710 Freeway in Long Beach left five people dead, including two 15-year-olds, and one person injured. The collision occurred shortly after 4:00 AM just south of the 91 Artesia Freeway. According to dashcam footage captured by an anonymous bystander, a Hyundai Sonata, driven by one of the victims, was observed speeding before colliding head-on with an attenuator. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn and catch fire, with some individuals reportedly being ejected from the car.
The two 15-year-old victims have been identified as Ariahh Slemaker and her best friend George Dobbs. The third victim has been identified as Angel Sextos, 18, and the remaining two victims are yet to be identified. Additionally, officials have reported that a sixth passenger sustained critical injuries in the crash. So far, investigators have not been able to determine the exact cause of the accident.
